My name is Capria Busnardo and I am the owner of Cottage Kennels Farm! I worked as a kennel technician for 5 years before taking over the business in 2022. Since then, I have been growing our Cottage family and constantly making improvements to better the experience. I was born and raised in Mead, CO and I love this little town. Ever since I was little, I have had a strong passion for animals and animal welfare. Now, I not only am blessed to own and operate my own 'home away from home' kennel experience, but I also help foster dogs through a local rescue and manage their social media.
I am very passionate about the rescue world and how important education and shopping responsibly is. I have learned SO much through fostering, both behaviorally and medically, that has really helped my overall growth in the caretaking of animals. I have also completed my CPR certification. A combination of that with my extensive knowledge on dog health and welfare, makes me very credible in my abilities to properly and safely care for your pet(s).
When starting Cottage Kennels Farm, I knew from my own love and passion for dogs, how important having a safe home away from home is for other pet parents. I take SO much pride in what myself AND my amazing team have built. I am so confident in the services that we provide, and seeing the results of so many happy, safe, and healthy pups is so rewarding. It is SO important to do your research when entrusting someone to care for your pet, not all facilities will be a match for you and your needs and that is fine! Just like humans, dogs all have different needs or preferences that need to be met. Unlike our competitors, it was important to me that Cottage Kennels Farm prioritizes:
- Smaller playgroups. Much smaller than requirements made by the state even.
- No play all day! It may be more work, but multiple play times separated by breaks is crucial.
- Tiny Town. Small/Old dogs require a completely separate area to play and sleep for their own independent needs.
- Sweaters, bedding, lux beds, bones, treats, etc are all provided at no extra cost but JUST simply for the betterment of the pet.
THAT is simply The Cottage difference!
Cottage Kennels is a smaller more exclusive boarding experience. This allows us to have a more specialized focus on each individual dog that stays with us. After working and managing a dog kennel for over 6 years, I decided to turn my passion into my own business. I have a growing dedication in providing trustworthy care for your pets, and ensuring that their well being is always put first. The owner lives on site to allow for even more personalized care. In contrast to other kennels; feedings, medications, exercise, and any other means necessary to ensure the comfort of your pet is always included in our base rate.
Our biggest priority is the happiness of your pet.
Each day follows the same routine which provides the structure your pet needs to thrive at a boarding facility. Your pets' day begins at 6:30 in the morning and their bedtime is 7:00 at night. Each day they are provided play time and exercise at least 4 times (frequency and amount of time spent outside is dependent on weather). Dogs are fed twice a day, with the administration of any medications at no extra charge - with the exception of injections in which we can not administer.
Cottage Kennels sits on about 1.8 acres of land. We have 8 large play yards with pea gravel and 6ft chain link fencing. This allows for smaller communal playgroups, individual, or family only playgroups for exercise times. It is proven that dogs that are good with others, thrive mentally and physically in smaller playgroups. Owners also have the option to opt their pets out of communal play, in which they will be exercised just as frequently, but in their own yard. Each suite was built with luxury vinyl flooring and black powder coated gates with privacy walls in between kennels. All kennels are heat and air condition controlled with windows to allow for natural light.
We encourage guests to bring their own food to limit risk of an upset stomach. However, we can provide a kennel food at an extra charge of $3.00 / per day. Please bring food in either individual baggies or a sealed container with a lid. We provide all food and water dishes, so please leave those at home! Dogs love treats, so feel free to bring your own. We will also provide freeze dried beef liver treats for our guests.
Cottage Kennels provides raised Kurunda beds, as well as a variety of fleece blankets, mattress toppers, stuffed beds, and towels to keep your pets' suites cozy. However, please feel free to bring any beds, blankets, or toys that will keep your pet happy and remind them of home. We are not responsible for lost or damaged items.
If your dog is on any medications, we are required to have the original pill bottle that was prescribed from your vet with the original label and administration instructions.
